Upon arrival, you will be asked to fill out some paperwork to help us better get to know you and to give us a glimpse into your health history. If you would prefer to save some time by filling out the paperwork in advance, please download our intake form from our website or simply stop by to pick up the paperwork and to schedule your appointment.
Our practice considers your first visit your most important one. Therefore, we allow for extra time with the doctor to ensure we gain a thorough understanding of your condition and so we may answer any questions you may have.
The goal of the first visit is to formulate a working diagnosis of your condition and to create a treatment plan. We will ask you questions about your condition as well as your general health. We will then review this information with you and discuss various treatment options.
After the history, we will perform a physical examination. This will include chiropractic specific tests, such as checking your posture, palpating the spine and checking the mobility of your joints. Simple orthopedic and neurological tests will also be done, such as evaluating your gait, reflexes, sensation, etc. We may take an x-ray or decide to order such testing as CT scan or MRI or NCV/EMG’s. These are not routinely performed, but may be necessary depending on your specific case.
Treatment will usually begin immediately, especially in acute cases. If you have a complicated case or further testing or consultations are requested, treatment may be deferred until this is completed so that we may provide you with the highest quality care. Should your specific concern be best handled by another health care provider, we will be happy to make the referral.
